The Tyrer-Cuzick model is a breast cancer risk assessment tool incorporating family history, endogenous hormonal factors, benign disease, risk factors such as age and body mass index, as well as genetic factors (including BRCA) into a single statistical model. The model estimates the likelihood of a woman developing breast cancer within 10 years of her current age and over the course of her lifetime. The Tyrer-Cuzick model has been shown in independent studies to be the most consistently accurate when compared with other available risk assessment models.
"We are pleased to work with Ikonopedia to make the Tyrer-Cuzick risk assessment tool widely available to women via the web. We believe this will make the tool more accessible for women to have informed conversations with their physicians about their breast health and to make decisions about genetic testing and adjunctive screening options based on their specific risk factors," said Jack Cuzick, PhD, Professor of Epidemiology, Queen Mary University of London. The Tyrer-Cuzick Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool has been integrated into Ikonopedia's suite of report generation software tools since 2014 and automatically populates reports for high-risk patients.
Ikonopedia is an innovative structured breast reporting and MQSA management system designed to dramatically improve reporting efficiency, and optimize facility operations. All findings are saved as discrete data which allows Ikonopedia to prevent errors, maintain BI-RADS-compliant language and automate many time-consuming processes. Ikonopedia makes it possible to eliminate laterality errors, automatically choose exam-appropriate patient letters and pull forward findings from past exams along with many other time-saving features. Built on modern technology, Ikonopedia employs a closed-loop follow-up system to make sure that no patient can ever get lost in the shuffle of a busy clinic.
"Ikonopedia is 100 percent invested in women's health and we fully support the ACS guidelines for breast cancer screening. We are pleased to make the Tyrer-Cuzick risk model available to women free of charge to better understand their risk. We hope that this gives them the tools to talk to their physicians and advocate for the options best for their health," said Emily Crane, CEO of Ikonopedia.
