"Allscripts has proven to be an exceptional partner for INTEGRIS,delivering significant savings in the form of reduced claims denials andhelping us to better manage our patients' length of stays with a caremanagement application that's virtually trouble free," said Greg Meyers,INTEGRIS System Vice President. "Now we're expanding the Allscripts deploymentto all our hospitals and adding discharge planning to allow our case managersto connect electronically with nursing homes and home care agencies so theycan find the best match for discharged patients who need further care."

Allscripts Discharge Planning and Utilization Management are key elementsof the company's Care Management solution, which is used by more than 700hospitals nationwide. Allscripts Care Management is a Web-based "software as aservice" (SaaS) solution that can be deployed quickly and efficiently withminimal IT support. It automates and streamlines the entire care managementprocess in hospitals, from admission through discharge. The result: increasedproductivity, improved patient throughput, lower claims denials and betterhealth outcomes.

INTEGRIS plans to share patient information from Allscripts UtilizationManagement with its numerous home care agencies to ensure providers have allthe information they need to deliver appropriate care," said Denise Caram, MS,CPUM, CPUR, Director of Support Services for INTEGRIS Rural Health. INTEGRISSamaritan Home Care Services, one of INTEGRIS's largest home care agencies, uses Allscripts Homecare (formerly Misys Homecare(R)) to improve clinicalquality of care, financial performance, and operational control in itsfacilities.

"INTEGRIS is committed to ensuring continuity of care for all of ourpatients, no matter what care setting they're in, and Allscripts is uniquelyable to help us deliver on that promise thanks to their presence in a widerange of care settings," said Caram. "Automating the care management processacross all our facilities will also help us standardize and better manage ourdenials and appeals process, discharge planning, and prepare for the upcomingMedicare RAC audits."

The Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) program of the federal Centers forMedicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) was created to identify and correctoverpayments to healthcare providers. The RAC audits will become a permanentfixture in all 50 states on Jan. 1, 2010. Allscripts Care Management providesreal-time alerts, retrospective reports, analytics and other tools that helphospitals identify current or past patient encounters at risk for a RAC audit, track them through the audit and appeals process, and prevent unnecessarydollar losses.

"The implementation of healthcare information technology within hospitalcare management departments holds great promise for improving care whiledelivering cost savings for hospitals in these difficult economic times," saidGlen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "We're delighted thatINTEGRIS has decided to expand our partnership across their network to notonly improve care management processes but also create a seamless transitionto their post-acute care facilities, which provide the next level of care forso many patients."

Allscripts Utilization Management streamlines the utilization managementprocess by electronically capturing critical patient data and guiding casemanagers in securing authorization and payment of care from insurers. Thesolution also creates an effective denial management program to track claimdenials and improve an organization's success rate with appeals.

Allscripts Discharge Planning automates the process of referringdischarged patients to post-acute facilities, eliminating the time-consumingand costly process of case managers manually phoning and faxing to securepost-acute care services, one provider at a time. Case managers send adetailed electronic referral to selected locations across the Allscriptsnetwork of 90,000 post-acute providers, and interested facilities reply, oftenwithin minutes.
