WHAT:

Fred Jordan Missions, joined by more than 300 pastors and leaders from across the nation, invite all of our hungry neighbors to THE BANQUET, to be held at 4:00PM in the heart of Los Angeles.

VISUALS:

The nation's rising unemployment, mortgage foreclosures and economic downturn have all merged together to create the perfect storm of hunger on our city streets.  These summer months have been brutal for our homeless neighbors, with food in short supply. However, our city of Los Angeles will shine today, as concerned citizens from around the nation gather at the Mission for THE BANQUET, to feed hungry people during this summer of hunger.

Pastors and leaders have gathered in Los Angeles for the Origins Project's inaugural Conference at the L.A. Live's Club Nokia. They will spend Friday on the downtown streets, in a Day of Service with some of our neediest neighbors. The culmination of the day will be THE BANQUET, where these pastors and leaders will sit at round tables with their homeless guests, in order to share and to learn from one another as they enjoy a meal together.  Prior to THE BANQUET, throughout the day they will visit people living in some of the welfare-type hotels and the projects in the area to distribute food, blankets and hygiene items.

Following a delicious dinner of baked chicken with all the trimmings, the Mission and guests from Origins will distribute food bags with fresh produce, hygiene kits, toys for the children, and lots of other extras.

The Origins Project is a network of people who are passionate about Jesus, humanity, and innovation. The Origins Event will bring together some of the leading creatives, activists, and equippers in our world who are committed to the life-changing mission of Jesus. It is both ethnically and culturally diverse. In addition, it is led by both men and women.

The Mission is a non-profit, faith-based, educational and relief organization meeting the needs of hungry, homeless and impoverished people, especially children and families in the inner cities of America and around the world since 1944.
