CHICAGO, March 10 The Heartwood Center today announced that it has launched its 2009 Women and Cancer Program which provides lower-income women with critical healing services. The program will run through June of this year, making available all of Heartwood's services free of charge to a number of participants. The program is funded through a grant from the state of Illinois. "We are extremely grateful for this funding," said Nancy Floy, Executive Director of Heartwood Center. "Without it, and the State of Illinois' deeply rooted commitment to improving women's health, these services would simply not be accessible to the people most in need."

Women contacting Heartwood will go through a screening process to determine which services might be most beneficial. A tailored treatment program will be created for each woman utilizing Heartwood's experienced staff. Participants in the 2009 Women and Cancer Program will not be charged for their treatment.
