Hawai'i Nurses' Association Announces New Leadership for 2010

Newly Elected Union Leaders take Office January 2010

HONOLULU, Jan. 6 -- The Hawai'i Nurses' Association (HNA) announced a new officer slate, executive director and elected representatives for 2010. The two-year terms commence January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2011.

HNA President Joan Craft, RN, HNA Vice President Robin Tanner, RN, and HNA Secretary Marina Robinson, RN, join incumbent HNA Treasurer Elayne Schwartz, RN, to lead the Hawai'i Nurses' Association and its members in 2010. Patt A. Gibbs, Esq., has accepted a new two-year contract to remain in her current position as HNA's Executive Director.

Other HNA representatives have been elected to the union's House of Delegates and Board of Directors. Their terms also commence January 2010.

"The organization's focus in 2010 will continue to be on member services and maintaining a strong and reasoned voice for Hawaii's private sector healthcare workers," said HNA Executive Director Patt A. Gibbs, Esq. HNA President Joan Craft said, "We are proud to have negotiated several successful contracts in the past year and will build on our strong track record." She said all of the newly elected HNA representatives have committed to the union's focus and working on common goals for the future.

The Hawai'i Nurses' Association represents more than 4,000 RNs and healthcare professionals in multiple facilities and hospitals located throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

The union has achieved twenty (20) successful contracts and contract extensions for their members in the past year.

The new team of HNA Officers and Board of Directors will be sworn in during their first official board of directors meeting January 8, 2010.

The Hawai'i Nurses' Association is the largest union representing Hawaii's private sector RNs and healthcare workers, serving patients and representing Healthcare Professionals since it's founding in 1917. www.hawaiinurses.org
