WASHINGTON, April 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In 2003, the CDC and Prevention sent out a letter of interest asking for anyone interested in collaborating on promoting to the public the value of handwashing. They had the largest response ever from a number of agencies, universities, private businesses and foundations.  May 1, 2003 we came together in a teleconference to focus on the role hands play in the spread of disease and have been meeting monthly via teleconference planning activities to promote the vision.

Vision: Clean Hands Save Lives.

We created International Clean Hands Week, the third full week of September annually. It was our combined effort that was in part responsible to help minimize the impact of the seasonal and H1N1 viral events in 2009 that may have caused more harm. Congratulations!  Yes vaccinations are important, but NEVER putting your finger into your eyes nose or mouth is the most effective way NOT to give yourself any of these diseases.  Please visit www.cleanhandscoalition.org for more information or simply to get involved.
