Haemonetics Software Solutions is the result of a merger between twoHaemonetics subsidiaries: 5D Information Management, Inc. ("5D") andInformation Data Management, Inc. ("IDM"). 5D is recognized as a marketleader in providing information technology to the plasma industry while IDM'sexpertise is in developing blood bank applications. The merger will allowHaemonetics to better service customers and to leverage the strengths of bothcompanies as it develops future generations of software solutions. The newname, Haemonetics Software Solutions, puts the strong Haemonetics' brandbehind the information technology systems.

Tony Pare, Vice President and General Manager for Haemonetics' GlobalServices, said, "This merger allows us to operate towards a common productroadmap and deliver software and service solutions that address all facets ofthe blood supply chain. The combined development strength will allow us toinvest, at a faster pace, in industry-first solutions that address increasingpressures in donor availability, regulatory compliance and the overall cost ofproducing and delivering blood components."
Haemonetics Software Solutions will operate out of the existing 5D and IDMlocations in Edmonton, Canada and Rosemont, Illinois. Haemonetics alsoannounced that as a result of the merger, Tom Britton, formerly President of5D, has been appointed President of Haemonetics Software Solutions, and TimCoburn, formerly President of IDM, has been appointed Vice President ofBusiness Development for Haemonetics' Global Services business.
