BACKGROUND: This summit will bring together 600 health care leaders from throughout the country - including clinicians, researchers, policy makers, national associations, and community health providers to addresses primary care workforce challenges. Specific attention will be given to current primary care workforce challenges and successful models of primary care training and practice as well as how to identify promising future strategies. Sessions on various topics include: payment reform, innovative models of care, the role states and foundations have in primary care workforce development, and the importance of a diverse primary care workforce.
