The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Summit is the premier health IT leadership program in North America. Its unique platform for collaboration, education, dialogue and solutions, focuses on key strategic relationships between the C-Suite, providers and the consumers they serve. Keynote speakers include: John Agwunobi, MD, MBA, MPH, senior vice president and president, Health & Wellness Business Unit Wal-Mart Stores Division; James Canton Ph.D. futurist, social scientist, author and sought-after public speaker; and Charlie Cook, respected authority on U.S. elections and political trends.

HIMSS' 7th Annual Advocacy Day (http://www.himss.org/advocacy/activities_advocacyday.asp) is June 11, 2008. The keynote speaker is Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA). Federal Advocacy Awards will be presented to Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Representative Phil Gingrey (R-GA), and Robert Kolodner, MD, national coordinator of the Office of Health Information Technology, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. State Awards will be presented to New Jersey Assemblyman Herb Conaway, MD; Georgia Commissioner of the Department of Public Health Rhonda Medows, MD; and the states of New York and Tennessee. New York's award will be accepted by Lori M. Evans, Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Health Information Technology Transformation, New York State Department of Health. Accepting on behalf of the state of Tennessee will be Melissa Hargiss, Assistant Director of the Tennessee eHealth Initiative.
