Ms. Tiffany K. Martin, Laboratory Director for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, stated, "After converting our lab from paper processes to the Orchard Harvest laboratory information system (LIS) four years ago, our administration recognized the need for a robust transfusion management system to manage our blood bank. We discovered that Wyndgate's SafeTrace Tx interfaced well with Orchard and with McKesson, our hospital information system vendor."

Ms. Martin continued, "Quality is the most important aspect for us in our lab. We were concerned about the numerous areas in the process where errors could be life-threatening. With automated systems such as SafeTrace Tx, built-in safety features and hard stops are typically available to help us detect and avoid errors. We were also excited about the ease of use and efficiencies built into the system, such as the Patient-At-A-Glance Bar(R), which allows us to view critical patient information in one location without pulling up charts."

SafeTrace Tx is a blood management software system designed to raise the standard of care for patients, improve safety, reduce waste and increase efficiency. SafeTrace Tx provides comprehensive tracking of orders, specimens, blood products, derivatives, and accessories with a complete testing and transfusion history in one consolidated record. These features allow a blood bank to choose appropriate blood products for therapy and track those blood products from their origin to the intended patient.

Wm. Scott Dustin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Wyndgate Technologies, commented, "We are pleased to have been chosen to assist West Cal Cam with converting their blood bank from paper to SafeTrace Tx. The efficiencies that will be created after implementing the system will help West Cal Cam realize cost savings in the department, streamline processes and provide better tracking of blood products. Secure tracking and safety features in SafeTrace Tx will assist in making it easier for their technicians to select appropriate blood products for their patients, with the goal of enhancing the level of patient care."
