NEW YORK, May 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Six Flags Friends, the philanthropic arm of Six Flags, Inc., [NYSE: SIX] and Cure Kids Cancer, announced today a collaborative effort to raise public awareness and funding for childhood cancers. To drive awareness for this vital cause, Six Flags Friends and Cure Kids Cancer will host "A Walk In The Park" on September 6-7 at twelve Six Flags theme park locations.

Local children with cancer will serve as ambassadors reflecting the broad demographics of children with cancer, as this disease is no respecter of age, gender, socioeconomic background or national origin. These ambassadors are the faces that will represent the more than 10,000 children who will be diagnosed with cancer this year, the tens of thousands who are undergoing treatments and the hundreds of youth who are forever coined "cancer survivors."

"Cure Kids Cancer is honored to be working with Six Flags Friends to generate resources to help hospitals and physicians find better treatments and hopefully someday a cure for pediatric cancers," said Jami Brinton, Director of Cure Kids Cancer. "As a cancer survivor myself, I strongly believe children should be able to experience all the joys of childhood without having to worry a diagnosis of cancer may dampen their greatest dreams."
Six Flags Friends is not only opening its gates to Cure Kids Cancer, but is asking guests to open their hearts, embrace the cause and to fight the battle on behalf of sick children in their own neighborhoods. In addition to the "A Walk In The Park" events, Six Flags Friends will organize other unique programs, fundraisers, and ambassador events for the organization and its mission.
"Six Flags has a rich tradition of offering our guests amazing rides and attractions and moments of unforgettable fun. By partnering with Cure Kids Cancer, we are creating the platform to save a life, which is clearly the greatest thrill of all," said Jessica King, Six Flags Friends Director.
Together, Six Flags Friends and Cure Kids Cancer will merge everyday carefree smiles with hope, anticipation and dreams of one day creating a world where all children and families can live free of cancer.
