MALVERN, Pa., May 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens Healthcare (NYSE: SI) has appointed Gregory Sorensen, MD, as chief executive officer (CEO) of Siemens Healthcare in the U.S.A., effective June 1. Sorensen succeeds Randy Hill, who has served as interim CEO. Dr. Sorensen will also oversee the Canadian activities of Siemens Healthcare.
Sorensen will be responsible for leading the marketing, sales, service, and support functions for Siemens Healthcare in the U.S.A., across the entire Healthcare portfolio including medical imaging, therapy, healthcare information technology, and laboratory diagnostics. He will be based at the U.S. headquarters in Malvern, Pa.

Sorensen is currently serving as Professor of Radiology and Health Sciences & Technology at Harvard Medical School; faculty member of the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology; and Co-Director of the A.A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
Dr. Sorensen is a practicing neuroradiologist and active researcher with significant experience in clinical care, clinical trials, and translational research. His research and techniques are utilized by scores of centers throughout the world in phase II and III trials of novel oncology agents such as gene therapy.
