The MHCC is an independent state regulatory agency whose mission is toplan for health system needs, promote informed decision-making, increaseaccountability and improve access in a rapidly changing health careenvironment by providing timely and accurate information on availability, costand quality of services to policy makers, purchasers, providers and thepublic.
The MHCC EHR adoption program was developed to assist physicians in thetransition to EHRs across Maryland. In addition to this initiative, the MHCC,in collaboration with the Maryland State Medical Society (MedChi) and theMedical Society of the District of Columbia, MSDC, was selected as one oftwelve communities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) fortheir EHR Demonstration. The five-year project will encourage small tomedium-sized primary care physician practices to use EHRs to improve thequality of patient care. The partners expect to promote EHR adoption throughoutreach, education, and recruitment of primary care physician practices inthe Maryland/DC region in an effort to revolutionize the way health careinformation is managed and to produce better health outcomes and greaterpatient satisfaction.
