CARROLLTON, Ga., Oct. 6 Greenway Medical Technologies Inc.today announced that its flagship electronic health record (EHR) solution,PrimeSuite(R), complies with all necessary standards and regulations thatphysicians will be required to meet starting January 1, 2009 in order toreceive the two percent increase on Medicare reimbursement payments fore-Prescribing as mandated by the Medicare Improvements for Patients andProviders Act (MIPPA) of 2008.
Greenway's newly CCHIT Certified(R) 08 Ambulatory EHR, PrimeSuite 2008,enables physicians to submit prescriptions electronically to a pharmacywithout the need for data reentry. The e-Prescribing functionality is alsoinfused with inherent safeguards that take into account patient demographics, dates of last visits and any drug allergies of which physicians andpharmacists must be aware when treating patients and filling prescriptions.
By utilizing PrimeSuite's e-Prescribing functionality, care providers areable to submit regulatory-compliant e-prescriptions to pharmacies through theintegration with DrFirst's GoldRx(TM) certified Rcopia(TM) electronicprescription management system. Prescription information and patient dataflows seamlessly through PrimeSuite's e-Prescribe, powered by DrFirst'sreal-time, fail-safe, physician connectivity services and is routed directlyto SureScripts-RxHub, which securely delivers the information to thepharmacies and payer networks.
Along with meeting the CCHIT(R) 08 e-Prescribing criteria, PrimeSuitemeets all qualifications for e-Prescribing as set by the Department of Healthand Human Services (HHS). PrimeSuite also meets all 119 recordable qualitymeasures included within the Physicians Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI), avoluntary program that provides up to two percent in additional financialincentives to eligible professionals who successfully report on a specifiedset of data gathered from services and procedures they provide to patientsunder the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. With PrimeSuite, reporting codesare incorporated into the clinical documentation process at the point-of-careand then aggregated with the other charge data, eliminating additional workfor the administrative staff resulting from PQRI charge capture.
"Physicians that utilize PrimeSuite to streamline the clinical, financialand administrative workflows of their practices can also benefit from thee-Prescribing reimbursement increases as well as the PQRI incentives that willbe available to eligible care providers starting in January, 2009," saidJustin Barnes, vice president of marketing and government affairs at GreenwayMedical. "The e-Prescribing and PQRI reporting functionality of PrimeSuite isanother way that physicians can experience increased return on investmentsthrough the implementation of industry-leading health information technology(HIT)."
"We are very pleased to congratulate Greenway for achieving CCHIT 08Ambulatory EHR certification," said G. Cameron Deemer, president of DrFirst."We strongly encourage the adoption of e-Prescribing now so that practices areprepared to receive incentives beginning January 1, 2009, and do not getcaught in the last minute rush to implement at the end of this year."
