Rea brings to Great Basin Scientific more than 20 years of engineering andmanufacturing experience, of which eight years were spent managing a GoodManufacturing Practice (GMP) facility for BioStar, Inc., a subunit ofInverness Medical Innovations, Inc., with revenues that exceeded $30 millionduring Rea's tenure. As general manager at BioStar, Rea was responsible forFDA regulatory requirements and the overall performance of the business unit.
Rea has particular expertise in seeing products through the regulatoryprocess. During his past eight years at BioStar, Rea and his staff wereresponsible for seeing multiple diagnostic products through the 510K approvalprocess. He also oversaw the pre-clinical and clinical trials at hospitalsand clinics, including institutional review board (IRB) approvals frommultiple organizations.
Rea holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from University ofColorado, Boulder, Colo.
