NEW YORK, Nov. 10 Former Governor Mike Huckabee has ledthe charge to improve health care in the state of Arkansas and has often saidAmericans must begin to take control of their health and that the effort isjust as important at work as it is at home. Wednesday, at the New YorkBusiness Group on Health meeting in New York, NY he discussed how he believesthe democratic administration will impact the healthcare system, stating "theproblem of health care is everyone's issue -- not just the president's."
Huckabee has long been a thought-leader on how health care in the UnitedStates can be improved, often calling for a national emphasis on living ahealthy lifestyle for positive, long-term management of one's health. Duringhis speech, Huckabee discussed the results of the "Healthy Arkansas"initiative that he spearheaded in partnership with LifeSynch (formerly brandedas Corphealth) and HealthMedia. The program was developed to improve thehealth of State of Arkansas employees. In one year, nearly 60 percent of Stateemployee participants lost weight, 95 percent improved their nutrition and 12percent reduced their BMI by at least one unit.
