Anumolu, President and Founder of Indus Foundation while addressing at a Press Conference organized here in city on Saturday to brief about the forthcoming event.

Addressing at the Press Conference, Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao, former Director of NIMS said image of modern doctors is very poor today. The days of Vaidyo Narayano Harini, means that a doctor should be seen as a form of Lord Narayana have gone. Government is taking a inferior role in providing healthcare to its people.

The budget allocations for health care by successive governments must go up, but, instead are coming down. India is one amongst lowest spending country in the world by the government for healthcare industry, which is very sad Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao

India needs 20 lakh nurses. We need more doctors. The government which should discourage consumption of alcohol, on the other hand taking such initiatives, which encourage consumption of more alcohol. All over the world smoking is decreasing, but consumption of alcohol is going up. I don’t want a total prohibition to be implemented today or tomorrow, but, it has to come gradually. Because, consumption of alcohol is creating lot of health related problems, said Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao.

India is not spending sufficiently on health care to achieve universal health coverage. Government spending of 1 per cent of GDP on health care is not sufficient. India needs half a million family physicians to achieve Universal Health Care. Health Care revolution is needed in India said Dr. Salman Rawaf, Professor of Public Health, Director WHO Collaborating Centre, Imperial College of London, UK.

Addressing the press conference, Anil Reddy Vennam, President of FTAPCCI said health care sector is one of the important sunshine sectors, driving employment and revenue generation especially in the Indian perspective. With a robust domestic demand, rise in innovative healthcare, corporatization of healthcare facilities, influx of medical tourism and the government push towards healthcare innovation, the overall segment has been driving the job market, even as others have ebbed an flowed, he said.

Indo Global Helathcare Summit is an international healthcare and pharma professionals meeting, offering an ideal global platform to the pharma and healthcare industry. The three-day summit, will look at the progress and shortcomings of medical R&D to fight dreadful diseases. The event will focus in particular on the need to accelerate and promote the development and delivery of new health techniques to fight emerging disease. We are expecting about 4000+ participants from 15 countries said Dr. Srinubabu Gedela, OMICS Intl USA.

Speaking further he added that the Summit will majorly focus on Rural Versus Urban Divide: While the opportunity to enter the market is very ripe, India still spends only around 4.5% of its national GDP towards healthcare goods and services. Additionally, there are wide gaps between the rural and urban populations in its healthcare system, which worsen the problem. What needs to be done to solve the problem, Dr. Srinubabu asked. Besides the rural-urban divide, another key driver of India’s healthcare landscape is the high out-of-pocket expenditure (roughly 70%). Now the Arogyasree is helping the people but few more mechanisms to be developed as healthcare is the primary concern. This topic will be discussed by experts.

Adding further he stated that the medical devices sector is the smallest piece of India’s healthcare pie. However, it is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the country like the health insurance marketplace. Till date, the industry has faced a number of regulatory challenges which has prevented its growth and development. Recently, the government has been positive on clearing regulatory hurdles related to the import-export of medical devices, and has set a few standards around clinical trials. Now Hyderabad is going to be the medical device hub as more number of medical device manufactures are eying to establish their plants, informed Dr. Srinubabu.

Dr. PV. Appaji, Director General of Pharmaceuticals Exports Promotion Council said India is the Pharma Capital of the world. The Summit will help forge many tie ups and partnerships for developing new molecules, Collaborations for R&D etc he said.

“These two unique events aim at identifying and sharing successful innovative models of healthcare delivery from around the world. The events will help professionals, entrepreneurs, industry players, investors and global institutions to collaborate for taking advantage of the latest innovations and advances” said Mr. S.B.Anumolu, President of the Indus Foundation.

The event will have 100 scientific sessions, expo. It will have a footfall of 10,000 people. During the four day event Healthcare Excellence Awards will be presented.
