SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 16 SonicWALL, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNWL), a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced Metagenics, Inc. selected SonicWALL's Aventail E-Class SSL VPN and Network Security Appliance (NSA) firewall to boost its network immunity and provide its mobile workforce with secure access to the files and tools they need to work on-the-go. A global life sciences company focused on reversing chronic illness, Metagenics, Inc. chose SonicWALL's appliances to provide employees with secure remote access to corporate network resources, ensuring they can provide their customers with a healthy lifestyle while they maintain a healthy network.

"Now, our users simply click on the SonicWALL portal link using their Web browser," said Andrew Lim, IT Manager at Metagenics. "Our sales force can safely log in anytime, anywhere to connect with CRM and other tools. Because it's fast and easy for them to set up, they can be more productive."

To establish a Clean VPN environment, Lim runs all inbound and outbound SSL VPN traffic from the SonicWALL Aventail appliance through a SonicWALL NSA 3500 firewall, providing granular access control and intrusion prevention at high performance levels.

Metagenics currently has approximately 150 remote users who connect to corporate resources over a virtual private network (VPN). Most are field sales representatives, although they also include IT staff, contractors, and executive staff. Previously, Metagenics used IPSec VPN for its remote users but because it did not tie in to Active Directory, IT had to create each account manually. Setup time for an account was unacceptable. In comparison, the ease of setup and management was a major advantage of the SonicWALL solution over other competitive alternatives.

"Having the SonicWALL Aventail appliance is a significant improvement over our previous solution," said Lim. "Several of our remote users rarely come into the office. The SonicWALL Aventail appliance integrates directly with our Active Directory. We simply authorize certain groups to access specific resources. SonicWALL gives us granular control over external access, and over which particular resources individuals can access."

SonicWALL Clean VPN delivers the innovative dual protection of both SSL VPN and high-performance Unified Threat Management (UTM) that is required to protect the integrity of VPN access by establishing trust for your remote users and their endpoint devices, using enforced authentication, data encryption, and granular access policy. In addition, it secures the integrity of VPN traffic by establishing trust for this traffic, by cleaning and authorizing all inbound traffic for malware and checking all outbound VPN traffic in real time. This dual protection of SonicWALL Clean VPN provides a multi-layered approach that enables you to decrypt and decontaminate all authorized SSL VPN traffic before it enters your network environment.
