Here is great news for women contemplating a knee replacement in Chennai in the future. A latest advance in knee replacements the Gender specific knee is to be introduced in Chennai next week. The first beneficiary will be a middle aged woman with bilateral knee arthritis. It has been realized since long that bones of women are different from that of men. However it is only recently has this knowledge been applied to the development of a knee prosthesis specially for men. This implant is the Gender specific Knee from Zimmer. Since its introduction in the US last fall more than 100000 gender knees have been implanted. The women who had the operation feel better and are thankful for this innovation. Now this option is to be made available in Chennai also. This prosthesis is to be introduced next week at the Bharathiraja hospital. Dr.A.K.Venkatachalam of www.kneeindia.com will be one of the first surgeons to use this knee.
