GRAPEVINE, Texas, Oct. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Support raised through Get in the Game, a luncheon aimed at increasing awareness

of domestic violence resources available in North Texas, will assist The Gatehouse, a community supporting domestic violence survivors, in its mission to give women and kids a hand up out of crisis.

This year's

event exceeded previous goals by 35 percent through funds raised via sponsorships, donations and live and silent auction items. Proceeds from the live auction will go directly to building the gymnasium at The Gatehouse's Early Learning Childcare Academy, while additional support raised will fund Gatehouse operations. The Gatehouse is a supportive living community where women and children leaving a crisis receive safe refuge, ample time, practical resources and healthy relationships to discover new paths for permanent, positive change. Through the individually tailored Independent Life Program, women and their children can stay for up to two and a half years and receive food, auto maintenance, legal aid, financial literacy training, career development guidance, childcare, professional counseling and more as part of building new lives and ending cycles of abuse and poverty.

This year's Oct. 23 event at AT&T Stadium was underwritten by the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation and included a panel who advocated for assistance to those in the community who need it most:

  • Event Emcee – NBC 5 Anchor Deborah Ferguson
  • Moderator – Dallas Cowboys Radio Network Analyst Babe Laufenberg
  • Keynote – Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Champion Drew Pearson
  • Keynote – Dallas Cowboy Super Bowl Champion Roger Staubach
  • Keynote – Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Champion Roger Lilly
  • Cowboys Representative — Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President Charlotte Jones Anderson

"The National Coalition against Domestic Violence states that 'one in three women have been victims of domestic violence,' and I represent that one in three," said a graduate from the first Gatehouse graduating class. "I am so thankful for the tremendous support and resources at The Gatehouse. Through group sessions and counseling I have learned self-worth, hope and the endless possibilities of having a new start."
