GMA Reaction to FDA Advisory Committee Meeting on BPA

For those reporters and editors covering today's FDA Advisory Committee meeting on bisphenol A (BPA), please be aware that Dr. Craig Henry, chief operating officer for the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), submitted formal comments to the Advisory Committee on behalf of GMA (see comments at http://www.gmabrands.com/docs/2008/2008sep12.pdf ).

In his comments, Dr. Henry stressed that FDA performed a thorough, well-documented review of the available toxicological information and research using a sound analytical approach and that FDA's evaluation of the science on BPA for purposes of a safety assessment is comprehensive, objective, and transparent, with clear explanations of any failings in study design, conduct and interpretation in the reviewed literature.
