Franklin & Seidelmann Adds 31 Subspecialty Radiologists to Support Growing Demand for Subspecialty Expertise

CLEVELAND, Nov. 20 Franklin & Seidelmann SubspecialtyRadiology (F&S) has added 31 subspecialty radiologists to support the growingdemand for subspecialty radiology expertise and secure its position as theindustry's largest subspecialty teleradiology network. F&S radiologists aremusculoskeletal, body, cardiac, breast and pediatric imaging specialists andneuroradiologists with Certificates of Added Qualification (CAQs). Many onthe team of more than 100 are industry experts and academic leaders, andcollectively they have published more than 8,000 lectures and papers that haveappeared in peer-reviewed medical journals and textbooks.

"Our primary focus is to provide the highest qualityreports and services to our referring physicians, so we must hire only thevery best subspecialists we can find, wherever they may live."

Franklin said the F&S model is particularly attractive to subspecialiststoday, who often seek work environments where they can focus on theirparticular areas of specialty and collaborate with their peers on the mostdemanding cases. Many of the radiologists on the F&S team have academicpositions at some of the leading teaching hospitals and utilize theirexperiences with F&S to gain access to challenging cases for trainingpurposes.

"Prior to joining F&S, subspecialty radiologists must be board certified,have a minimum of three to five years of experience including academicexperience and/or fellowship, have read a minimum of 10,000 studies withintheir subspecialty areas, are published, and are motivated to focusexclusively on their subspecialties," Franklin said.

"Additionally, prior to joining F&S, all radiologists pass a specialty-specific test that assesses the ability of the radiologist to integrate theprovided clinical and laboratory information, observe significant findings,and utilize their knowledge and experience to provide a report that isdescriptive, definitive, has the appropriate differential diagnosis, isdirective in the management of the patient, and follows the accepted format asproposed by the American College of Radiology (ACR) Appropriateness Criteria.As part of the F&S team, radiologists interpret cases only in theirsubspecialty areas, create reports according to a study-specific format, andparticipate in a rigorous QA program -- all of which contribute to the F&Smission of delivering the highest quality radiology services available," addedFranklin.

F&S announces the subspecialty radiologists who have joined its staff in2007:

Dr. Avinash Balkissoon, M.D. - Dr. Avinash Balkissoon is a musculoskeletalradiologist. He earned his Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at theUniversity of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI, and has served inacademic settings, both at Virginia Commonwealth University and the Universityof Michigan.

Dr. Stephen Blum, M.D. - Dr. Stephen Blum has more than three decadesexperience in diagnostic radiology and has subspecialty expertise inneuroradiology with Certificate of Added Qualifications. While serving as aMajor in the United States Air Force, Dr. Blum was the chief of radiology atEhrling Berquist USAF Regional Hospital. Subsequent to this, he was anattending neuroradiologist for Mercy Hospital and Michael Reese Hospital inChicago, IL.

Dr. Bradford Burton, M.D. - Dr. Bradford Burton is a subspecialist inneuroradiology with Certificate of Added Qualifications. He earned hisFellowship with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver,CO. Dr. Burton has served as a diagnostic neuroradiologist for severalorganizations, most recently with Kaiser Permanente Medical Center inHonolulu
