"Allscripts will help us ensure that our patients continue to receivegreat care from the moment they are admitted to the hospital until after theyare discharged," said Roy A. Powell, President and Chief Executive Officer,Frankford Hospitals. "By improving the case management process, Canopy willhelp us to deliver on our core mission -- providing superior patient care atlower cost."
Canopy streamlines and automates utilization, case, discharge and qualitymanagement processes while generating an immediate return on investment byimproving length of stay and revenue recovery. A web-based, ApplicationService Provider (ASP) solution, Canopy can be deployed quickly andefficiently with minimal IT support. Canopy Connect provides seamless, secureonline communications with payers, physicians and others, enabling hospitalsto quickly and easily communicate care management information such as clinicalreviews and post-acute placement requests. The system also enables casemanagement staff to electronically "task" ancillary services, such ascontracted home health care agencies, to more efficiently coordinate thedischarge of patients.
"We chose Canopy because it makes it easy for clinical staff to focus onthe patient while managing their care across the continuum," said Jo AnnMcGettigan, Director of Care Management at Frankford Hospitals. "Withouthaving to rely on paper notes and charts, this will make it much easier for usto communicate critical information like clinical reviews, post-acuteplacement requests and physician referrals. And it will let us electronicallypass along tasks and information as patients move throughout the system, whichwill be a huge time saver plus a safer process for patients."
McGettigan also expects Canopy will deliver significant financial returnsby accelerating payment of insurance claims and reducing the average length oftime patients stay in the hospitals. Studies indicate that when hospitalsfail to closely monitor patient care, they tend to keep patients longer thannecessary. That cuts into revenue for the hospital and potentially hindersthe patient's recovery.
"We are proud that Frankford Hospitals has selected Allscripts to provideaccurate, real-time information in helping to deliver high quality care whilemore effectively managing costs," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officerof Allscripts. "Following Frankford Health Care System's selection of ourelectronic health record and practice management system, this agreementhighlights the interoperability of our suite of products as well as ourcommitment, working closely with Frankford, to provide a seamless, interconnected healthcare experience for patients that also enhances thequality of patient care."
