MEDFORD, N.J., Dec. 15 Doug Petkus, a seasoned public relations professional with more than 30 years experience in corporate, agency and editorial environments, today announced the formation of Petkus Communications Consultants, LLC, a PR consultancy that provides senior-level strategic communications counsel.

Petkus offers strategic communications and issues management counsel, as well as strong media relations expertise, with emphasis on health care and consumer products. Petkus, who holds a law degree, will also utilize his expertise with complex regulatory and FDA issues to offer litigation communications support.

Petkus has a wide range of high-level skills and experience. In addition to issues management and strategic counsel, he offers a broad range of communications services including investor/financial relations support, media outreach plans, product-specific PR programs, executive media training/message development, internal/employee communications and speechwriting.
Petkus was Vice President, Corporate Communications at Wyeth until its acquisition by Pfizer. He served as the chief corporate spokesperson and handled all financial/disclosure communications. His experience with major issues ranges from major product recalls and subsequent litigation to managing media relations on landmark clinical study results including the Women's Health Initiative (WHI). Prior to joining Wyeth in 1996, Petkus held senior communications positions at Abbott Laboratories and Schering-Plough (now Merck). He also spent 10 years at New York-based public relations agencies handling accounts such as Wendy's, Procter & Gamble and the National Hockey League. He started his career as a TV news anchor at an ABC affiliate in Wisconsin.
Petkus holds a BA from Marquette University and a J.D. from Seton Hall.
