BCBSF health cards are available in displays located in the pharmacy areas of each store. The cards can be used by the purchaser or given as a gift. Once the cards have been purchased at the register, customers will call a number on the back of the card to complete a quick and easy activation and enrollment process. BCBSF will help customers choose the plan that fits their needs and budget. Shortly afterwards, they receive a BCBSF member ID card that can be used with participating providers.

There are two types of cards. One can be used for insurance and another for health care discounts. The "Gift of Health Care" card can be used to purchase health insurance plans. It will retail for $59 and can be applied accordingly to the plan the customer selects during the activation call. The card features GoBlue our most affordable guaranteed issue preventive and routine health plan. For other plans customers will need medical underwriting before coverage is issued. The "FamilyBlue Discount Card" will retail for $19. Good for three months, this card provides discounts on dental and vision care as well as prescriptions for an entire family.

"We believe this is a fresh and innovative approach to make health care products more accessible to Floridians. We are the first health company to offer health cards in retail," says Craig Thomas, BCBSF vice president and chief marketing officer. "Consumers have told us that they need affordable options - retail stores, such as CVS and Winn-Dixie, allow us to further reach out to communities and to those in need of coverage and care with more affordable solutions."

Celebrating 65 years as Florida's leader in the health industry, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida is mission-driven to improve affordable access to health care. BCBSF is a not-for-profit, policyholder-owned, tax-paying mutual company.
