The gift will be used to create a truly unique Ambulatory Medical Center to serve communities throughout the greater Flushing, NY area. Site selection is now underway for the planned 22,000 square-foot facility, which is expected to open in early 2009. The new Medical Center will feature the latest in cardiovascular disease and prevention services, a spine center, an urgent care/walk-in primary care clinic, and select aspects of North Shore-LIJ's Monter Cancer Center and Institute for Orthopedic Science, including rehabilitation services. The Center will also provide integrative medicine services such as acupuncture, therapeutic massage and tai chi.

FalconStor executives making the donation are: ReiJane Huai, the company's founder and current chief executive officer; Barry Rubenstein, founder and past CEO; and company founders Eli Oxenhorn and Irwin Lieber.

"We're pleased that we can leverage Falconstor's success to support North Shore-LIJ bringing its high-quality, specialized ambulatory health and medical care directly to many Asian-American communities in the Flushing area."
The new Flushing facility is only one aspect of the North Shore-LIJ's Health System's plan to develop community-based, outpatient care centers to meet the rapidly growing health needs of all residents of Queens.
