Chris Akers, Senior Vice President of Midstream Operations for EquitableResources, presented the donation to CAMC on September 12, 2008, during aceremony at the state capitol. "The battle against cancer is just as muchmental as it is physical," said Akers, himself a cancer survivor. "It's goodto give the children a break and a chance to have fun, but it's just asimportant to give the families the opportunity to relax and help support otherfamilies with similar challenges."

As part of the award ceremony, Governor Joe Manchin III proclaimedSeptember "National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month" in West Virginia. "Achildhood cancer diagnosis is a family diagnosis, and a tremendously emotionaland financial burden," said Governor Manchin in Friday's proclamation. "Byworking together we can make a positive difference for patients, families andsurvivors."
