Eons.com Boomer Sex & Intimacy Survey Reveals Majority of People Over 50 Engage in Healthy, Active Sex Lives

BOSTON, Nov. 14 Today, Eons.com, a social network forboomers, released the latest results of its Sex & Intimacy Survey, gauging thesexual attitudes and activities of 10,000+ respondents ages 50 to 65.According to the survey, 87% of respondents report that sex is an importantpart of their lives, 45% report having sex at least once per week and 88% areinterested in spicing up their sex lives by trying something "new." The datareveals that the "free love" generation of the 1960's still harbors the sameopen attitudes toward sex, communication and intimacy in their later years.The Eons.com Sex & Intimacy Survey dispels common misconceptions about sexafter 50, and how boomers are openly discussing the formerly taboo topic ofsex.

"Boomers are still shattering myths about health, sex drive and prowess,"says Eons Founder and CEO Jeff Taylor. "They're not settling into a sexualrut. They're creating new passion in their lives, and celebrating their healthand close relationships like never before."

Boomers are Sexually Active - 45% Report Having Sex at Least Once per WeekDespite the long-held belief that sex becomes less important as people age:

Boomers are Sexually Adventurous -- 88% are Willing to Try Something "New"

Trying new things in (and out) of the bedroom isn't just for young people.A vast majority (88%) would try something new to spice up their sex lives,including role-playing and other games, new sexual positions or sex in adifferent location than the bedroom. Of respondents who are married or in along-term relationship, 23% are willing to invite a third person into theirbedroom if their partner was game. Despite changing attitudes on many fronts,the majority of respondents (58%) still enjoy cuddling after sex, even afterall these years.

Boomers are Sexually Satisfied -- 75% are "Completely Fulfilled"

Although most respondents report having the best sex during the first yearof dating their partner, 18% say they're having the best sex now after turning50. Close to 75% report reaching orgasm most of the time or every time duringsex, and 44% report sex lasting between 20-30 minutes. Additionally, more thanhalf (51%) of respondents use some kind of supplement for sex, includingViagra, personal lubricants, herbal supplements and hormones. Outside ofsexual intercourse with a partner, most respondents (62%) also report engagingin self-gratification at least one or more times per month.

Evolving Attitudes -- 61% Would Become Intimate with a New Partner in theFirst Month

Waiting until marriage is now passe for most single boomers. The majority(61%) of respondents are willing to become physically intimate with newpartners within the first month of dating, with 36% believing the second orthird date is the most acceptable time to begin engaging in intimacy.Meanwhile, less than 4% plan on waiting until marriage to engage in sex withtheir partners.

Adopting the Internet to Spice Up Their Love Life

Boomers have embraced the Internet as an informational resource on sexwith nearly 30% using it for sexual information or inspiration as well as formeeting new people. Though 37% say the best way to meet someone new is througha friend, 22% are turning to online dating sites for romance.
