Emergen-C(R) Announces 5 Mini Marketers Under the Age of 12 as Winners of Product Design Contest for New Kid's Multi-Vitamin Drink Mixes

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., Sept. 8 Alacer Corp., maker of thepopular vitamin fizzy drink mix, Emergen-C(R), has announced the names of thefive young extraordinary minds behind the new Emergen-C Kidz(TM) CompleteMulti-Vitamin & Multi-Mineral Supplement drink mix designed for kids by kids.The creative product name winners include Austin Blase, age 8, of Duluth,Georgia for Orange Pineapple Explosion and Bernadine Macedo, age 8, of LosAngeles for Strawnanaberry. Those three kids whose drawings inspired the newpackage design include Marisa Rodriguez, age 9, of Rosemead, California forCherry Yumberry; Alessandra Rios, age 8, of Pasadena, California forStrawnanaberry Blast; and Jake Mowery, age 12, of Cumming, Georgia for OrangePineapple Explosion.

This fall, Emergen-C will launch a new fun, fizzy, and delicious completemulti-vitamin and multi-mineral supplement flavored fizzy drink mix productline for kids. "We wanted to create the best-tasting, most-loved kids vitaminproduct on the market and figured the best way to do that was to go straightto the source," said Meghann Seidner, Emergen-C Brand Manager. "Kids had afootprint in every aspect of the product development from tasting to namingand design. The final packaging will incorporate design elements from eachwinner and the kids behind Kidz will be featured on our website."

More than 100 creative kids attended Emergen-C hosted events at WholeFoods Markets nationwide where they had the chance to brainstorm great flavornames, draw packaging designs and select which three flavors will make it tothe shelves. The winner for best name and best artwork for each flavor wasrewarded with a prize package, which included $1,000 to be donated to theirschool's reading, math or science program.

Emergen-C Kidz is complete with 24 essential nutrients, including moreimmune-boosting vitamin C than the leading brand to help kids stay healthyyear round, and choline to support healthy brain function.* "We know whatvitamins their bodies need but only kids can tell us what flavors they'll wantto drink every day," said Seidner. "The most gratifying aspect of the contestwas seeing the kids' reactions as they mixed their own drinks, gulped themdown and asked their moms for more.
