Eli Lilly and Company to Receive Honor from National Urban League
Sidney Taurel, chairman and chief executive officer, will accept the awardtoday, presented by the National Urban League (NUL), during the 51st AnnualEqual Opportunity Day Awards Dinner at the New York Marriott Marquis.
"Lilly is extremely honored to receive this year's Corporate LeadershipAward," said Taurel. "We support the NUL's mission to enable African Americansto secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights througheducation and empowerment. Lilly is receiving the Corporate Leadership Award for its valuedpartnership with the NUL on projects addressing health disparities, diseaseawareness and prevention and encouraging dialogue on mental health issues.This year, Lilly and the NUL brought forward the "Remarkable: That's You"campaign. The program encourages African American women and their families toadopt healthy behaviors. Workshops promoted being physically active, eating anutritious diet, and seeking preventative screenings and treatment options.
