El.En. Group Establishes New Subsidiary, DEKA Medical, Inc. and Appoints Management Team

FLORENCE, Italy, Aug. 10 El.En. Group announced today the incorporation of DEKA Medical, Inc., a North American subsidiary of its DEKA division. Based in San Francisco, CA, DEKA Medical will begin operations immediately and focus on bringing a selected range of medical and aesthetic devices under the DEKA brand to the North American market, including the highly acclaimed SmartXide DOT.

The new management team includes industry veterans Dale Koop and Michael Magner. Mr. Koop will serve as CEO and President of the new company. Prior to DEKA Medical, Dale Koop held positions as General Manager at Lumenis Aesthetic, General Manager at Sciton, and President at Cooltouch Corp., and brings over 20 years of leadership experience within the medical device industry. His previous experience includes roles as Vice President of Photonics at ICN Pharmaceuticals, Vice President of Research and Development at Rofin-Sinar, Business Development Manager at Coherent Medical where he started its the Aesthetic Business Unit, now Lumenis Aesthetic, and CEO of Lightwave Electronics. Mr. Koop holds a PhD in Physics from Caltech, and BS degrees in both Biology and Physics. Mike Magner brings over 20 years of experience within the medical device industry and will serve as Vice President of Sales. Prior to DEKA Medical, Mr. Magner served as a Director of Americas at Aesthera Corp. and as Regional and Canadian business manager at Palomar Medical and also an area manager at Coherent Medical.
