WHAT: This Saturday before Easter, April 3, Hundreds of Skid Row and the inner city's Poorest Children and Families will celebrate an Early Easter with Easter Baskets and Food Boxes of Hope at the Fred Jordan Mission. VISUALS: Fred Jordan Mission's Easter "Festival of Life" brings fun and games to the children of the inner city. Each impoverished child will be given a beautiful, hand made Easter basket bulging with toys, candy, and books. Each family will be given a Food Box of Hope filled with enough food to feed a family of 4 for 4 days, and new, warm blankets. Hundreds of underprivileged children of all ages will play miniature golf, enjoy face painting and watch in delight as balloons are shaped into animals and given to them. The slums of Skid Row will be cleaned up and transformed into a giant outdoor dining room for hundreds of homeless, poor and impoverished people; many who have lost their jobs and homes during this global recession. Come hear what it is like to lose your job and home and be on the streets of Skid Row with your children for the very first time. Hundreds of volunteers and Mission staff will serve a delicious homemade Easter Buffet complete with homemade BBQ chicken, BBQ beans, potato salad and rolls. Children will be treated to hot dogs and chips. A traditional Easter service will feature inspirational music, followed by a message of Resurrection life and hope from Willie Jordan (President of Fred Jordan Missions). Guests will include Pastor Jack Hibbs and his Praise Team from Calvary Chapel, Chino Hills, as well as Cue and Mercy from New Song LA. In addition, the Mission will conduct a special "Blessings for the Children" which will include Willie, her sons Tom and Peter, and other pastors from the Fred Jordan Mission to pray and bless each baby and child.
