The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education recognizes Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree

MURRAY, Utah, May 31, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Eagle Gate College, a leading provider of healthcare education

in Utah, today announced that its Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) has earned accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Commission ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing that operate in accordance with national nursing standards.

"The CCNE accreditation highlights our commitment to quality nursing education," said Dr. Lois Hine, Eagle Gate College's Chief Nursing Officer. "We are proud of our baccalaureate program, our high-quality facilities and faculty, and most of all, of how our graduates will improve the quality of nursing care in our communities."

Aging of the baby boomers, more people with health insurance, and other social and economic factors have led to a pending shortage of 193,000 nurses by 2020. The Institute of Medicine reported on the future of nursing in 2010, making a strong recommendation that 80% of the nursing workforce have a baccalaureate degree (BSN) by 2020.

Eagle Gate College is working to address the shortage of nurses with baccalaureate degrees in Utah. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree has some unique benefits that students find worthwhile. For example, the College has no waiting lists or pre-requisite requirements for entering students, and accepts transfer credits from other accredited colleges and universities. Elizabeth Wright, a first-year nursing student and single mother said, "I needed a nursing school that offered online courses that fit with my work and family responsibilities.  I am on track to graduate with my Bachelor's degree in nursing in 36 months."
