SWARTZ CREEK, Mich., July 27 Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, the nation's largest privately owned specialty pharmacy, announced today the addition of Steven Miesowicz to its staff, as Senior Director of Human Resources and Government Relations. Mr. Miesowicz previously served as the Company's business management consultant where he played a primary role in securing the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) tax credit Diplomat received from the state of Michigan for $61.5 million and $14 million from Career Alliance, Inc. for workforce training. In addition to taking on the responsibilities of the Human Resources Department, educational and employee training, regulatory and compliance of labor laws and facilities management, Mr. Miesowicz will also act as Diplomat's Government Liaison. He will report directly to Jeff Rowe, Sr. Vice President of Operations.
"With Diplomat's projected growth of hiring over 1,000 employees in the next five years, Steven's broad based experience and communication skills will be instrumental to help Diplomat successfully reach its milestones of the company's business plan," said Mr. Rowe.
"It's an exciting time to join Diplomat as we continue to grow and move to our new headquarters," said Mr. Miesowicz, who holds a degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan. "In my new role I will help attract and retain talent, and maximize the incentive package provided by the City, County and State of Michigan."
The hiring of Mr. Miesowicz comes at a time when specialty pharmacy, and Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy in particular, is experiencing explosive growth. In April, the Company announced plans to add 1000 new jobs over the next five years and the imminent relocation of its headquarters office to a 340,000 square foot facility in Flint, Michigan. Diplomat anticipates making $12 million in investments over the next several years in its new headquarters, which is part of the Great Lake Technology Centre. Plans include a new, advanced distribution hub to control Diplomat's nationwide network, an advanced specialty pharmacy compounding laboratory to serve the nation, a new industry training and education center, a high technology software development and data center, and a national patient call center.
"I am very pleased to have Steven onboard leading Human Resources and Government Affairs at Diplomat," said Phil Hagerman, President and CEO of Diplomat. "Steven's contagious enthusiasm and broad business and Human Resource experience will be a great asset to our growing company."
Mr. Miesowicz previously served the health care, aviation and automotive industries in a wide variety of leadership positions including Human Resources and facilities management, and has been a business management consultant for the past two years. He has also served on the board of trustees for the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and taught mathematics at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan.
