SAN DIEGO, Nov. 12 With the growing use of dermal fillers, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction has never been more important. Dermatology and plastic surgery nurse practitioners continue to play a vital role in managing, educating and interacting with patients. A 2009 study of dermatology nurse practitioners estimates that the average number of patients nurse practitioners see each year totals six hundred million. However, the number of aesthetic education programs for nurse practitioners is limited.

Identifying this critical educational need, Trilogy Education, LLC partnered with the leading dermal filler companies, including Suneva Medical, Allergan, Mentor, Galderma, and sanofi-aventis, to educate nurse practitioners on the newest aesthetic injectable products. The two-day course, which took place in Las Vegas, NV October 16-18, 2009 featured presentations by leading physicians. Jeffrey T.S. Hsu, M.D., a board certified dermatologist at River North Dermatology in Naperville, IL and Assistant Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) at Dartmouth Medical School, and Ashish Bhatia, M.D., Director, Dermatologic Surgery at River North Dermatology in Naperville, IL and Assistant Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) at Northwestern University, performed live demonstrations of Artefill®, Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane, and Sculptra.

"As a company one of our key objectives is to ensure that all healthcare professionals that administer Artefill have received the necessary training, as all fillers are not the same," said Larry Milocco, Head of Marketing at Suneva Medical. "We commend Diane Hanna and her team at Trilogy Education for taking this critical step as there continues to be high consumer demand for dermal filler procedures due to their more immediate results. However, adequate training is crucial to ensure patient safety and satisfaction with these treatments."
