Department of Defense Awards Northrop Grumman the Clinical and Health Data Repository Initiative Contract

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 13 Northrop GrummanCorporation (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department ofDefense to deploy, enhance and maintain the Clinical and Health DataRepository initiative to help the Defense Department and Department ofVeterans Affairs (VA) seamlessly share patient information.

The Clinical and Health Data Repository initiative provides real-timeexchange of computable health data between the Defense Department's electronichealth record system, AHLTA, and the VA's HealtheVet patient record system,VistA. Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector developedenhancements to AHLTA for the Clinical and Health Data Repository projectunder a contract award in 2005. Northrop Grumman has supported the AHLTAsystem as the primary systems integrator and developer since 1999.

"As a leading provider of health information exchanges, Northrop Grummanis uniquely positioned to provide the Defense Department and VA with a secureand efficient solution to proficiently share data and provide the best medicalcare possible to United States military personnel and veterans," said LindaMills, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Civilian Agencies group.

Under the terms of the contract, Northrop Grumman's IT sector will providesystems engineering and integration, information assurance and security,configuration management, technical support, and system enhancement andmaintenance.

The contract is valued at $10.3 million over one base year with twoone-year options. Work on the contract will be conducted in Chantilly, Va.,South Jordan, Utah, and various Defense Department and VA medical facilitiesnationwide.
