STMicroelectronics entered into a licensing agreement with Dblur toimplement Dblur's technology in STMicroelectronics' product offering,enabling them to offer competitive sensors that meet the demandingperformance and cost requirements from camera phone vendors.

"The integration of Dblur's technology into our sensors is perfectlytimed to meet the growing demand from camera phone vendors for thistechnology" says Eric Aussedat, General Manager, Imaging Division,STMicroelectronics. "The technology enables smaller, low-cost, high-qualitycamera modules and is well suited for future wafer-scale optics and assemblytechnologies," he adds.
ST plans to support the various Software Lens(TM) optics including: wideapertures (low F#) for increased indoor use and low light camera performance,for both fixed and Auto-Focus cameras; Extended Depth-of-Field (EDoF) thatenhances the camera's in-focus range from business card and bar-code scanningto best infinity; and low profile lens with up to 30% reduction in opticallens/zoom height.
