Dallas' Charla Aldous Earns 'Trial Lawyer of the Year' Award

DALLAS, Sept. 25 Charla G. Aldous, founder of Dallas'Aldous Law Firm, has earned the 2008 "Trial Lawyer of the Year" award from theTexas chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates. She will receive theaward at the TEX-ABOTA annual meeting on Oct. 25, 2008, at Lost Pines Resortin Bastrop, Texas.

The TEX-ABOTA Board of Directors selected Aldous as "Trial Lawyer of theYear" after reviewing numerous nominations submitted by chapters across thestate.

"Charla is the epitome of those whom we seek to honor with the 'TrialLawyer of the Year' award," says Dicky Grigg, President of TEX-ABOTA. "Hercourtroom record is enviable, and she has unselfishly shared her leadershipskills through public service to the legal profession and her community."

A 23-year veteran of more than 100 trials, Aldous has secured hundreds ofmillions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of her clients. In2007, Texas Lawyer newspaper named her one of the top five personal injuryattorneys in Texas, and she has been listed as one of the "Ten Winning Lawyersin America" by The National Law Journal.

She has appeared on the cover of Texas Super Lawyers magazine, where shehas been featured among the top 100 lawyers in the state, and D Magazineroutinely includes her in its listing of the Best Lawyers in Dallas. Aldous'work twice has been recognized in Lawyers Weekly among the "Top 10 Verdicts inthe Nation," and she also is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, aninvitation-only group of 100 of the country's leading plaintiff's lawyers.

"My primary focus is to make sure my clients receive justice, and thatalso serves as one of ABOTA's key missions," says Aldous. "Texas is home tomany great trial lawyers, and it is a tremendous honor to receive this awardfrom an outstanding organization."

Aldous currently serves as president of the Dallas ABOTA chapter, and is amember of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and American Association forJustice, as well as a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. She earned herundergraduate degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, where she has beenrecognized as a distinguished alumnus. She earned her law degree from SouthernMethodist University School of Law.

ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges,with more than 6,300 members spread among 93 chapters in all 50 states and theDistrict of Columbia. TEX-ABOTA consists of more than 1,000 members in 13chapters across the state.
