BASILDON, England, Nov. 17 As swine flu threatens to make a resurgence, Go Travel Insurance have reinforced the need for gap year students to take out proper cover before they embark on their trip.

With the number of UK cases of the H1N1 virus increasing to an estimated 84,000 last week, and the onset of winter sparking a new wave of cases, travel and health officials are keen to get the 'be prepared' message out to the public, especially those planning to travel to affected areas of the world.

A spokesman for Go Travel Insurance stated: "Gap year travellers need to take particular care to make sure they are properly covered."

"It's the Gap year market that most commonly misidentifies the type of cover they need, often being unaware that most standard annual policies are not suitable for them. With swine flu on the increase, that extra element of unpredictability makes it imperative that people ensure they have the right level of cover."

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office receives more referrals for help from gappers than any other type of traveller.

Destinations like China, Canada, and of course Mexico and the US are fighting against a surge of H1N1 activity as flu season approaches.
