LONG BEACH, Calif. and FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 13 -- Health industry experts and corporate executives will lead a forum on how health care reform impacts a company's bottom line on Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Sponsored by MemorialCare Health System's Presidents' Partnership, the event features leaders from health care, insurance, medical group, education and business sectors.

"Health care costs are a major concern of every business executive in every industry sector," says Barry Arbuckle, Ph.D., MemorialCare Health System president and CEO, and immediate past chair, California Hospital Association. "This forum will deliver up-to-date information on health care reform and offer direction, solutions and strategies to help organizations navigate through health reform and address the issues of rising health and employee benefit costs."

Joining Dr. Arbuckle in the panel discussion are Jay Gellert, president and chief executive officer of Health Net, Inc., among the nation’s largest publicly traded managed health care companies and currently ranked #165 on Fortune 500 list of corporations; Jay Cohen, M.D., chairman and president of Monarch HealthCare, one of the state’s leading independent practice associations serving more than 2,500 physicians; and Hilda Sanchez, president of Minuteman Press, named Business of the Year by the Women’s Council of the Chamber of Commerce. Moderating the discussion is Barry Munitz, Ph.D., former chancellor of California State University, the largest system of higher education in the country, and past president and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust. Dr. Munitz is currently trustee professor at California State University, Los Angeles, and chair of California P-16 Council, a statewide assembly of education, business and community leaders charged with improving education for preschool through college students.

Keynoting the forum is John Bardis, chairman, president and CEO of MedAssets and an Inc. magazine Entrepreneur of the Year. MedAssets, which partners with health care providers to improve their financial strength and operational efficiency, serves more than 125 health systems, 3,300 hospitals and 30,000 non-acute care health care providers. Bardis also served as team leader of the U.S. Greco-Roman Wrestling Team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
