WHAT: The Walter E. Washington Convention Center is being transformed into the nation's largest doctors' office for the one-day, massive free clinic for the uninsured sponsored by the National Association of Free Clinics (NAFC) on Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The clinic will fill the 128,000 square feet of Exhibit Hall C.
WHO: Officials from the National Association of Free Clinics and hundreds of volunteers. NAFC Executive Director Nicole Lamoureux and others are available for interviews.
WHERE: Exhibit Hall C, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, N.W. The Press Room is Room 148, which is accessible from the Metro entrance (SW corner of M and 7th streets)
WHEN: All day today and Tuesday and during the morning on Wednesday. The main setup activities will occur on Tuesday between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. If you want to do a live shot for TV, please contact us to make arrangements.
WHY: The clinic will provide basic primary and preventive care to uninsured people from the Washington area, including Maryland and Virginia. More than 1,200 uninsured people are expected to attend.
