Convaid and R82 to Expand Planned Giving to United Cerebral Palsy

Donation Slated for 17th Semi-Annual Family Support Conference in Portland, OR

TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Global prevalence of Cerebral Palsy ranges from 1.5 to more than 4 per 1,000 live births and is the most common motor disability in childhood. In support United Cerebral Palsy of Oregon and Southwestern Washington, Convaid and R82 will participate in this UCP affiliate's 17th Semi-Annual Family Support Conference on Cerebral Palsy & Developmental Disabilities to be held on October 21-22, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Portland Airport Hotel, located at 8439 NE Columbia Blvd, Portland, OR 97220.

The Portland-based affiliate has advanced independence, productivity and full citizenship of people living with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities since 1955.

Convaid and R82 will participate in the two-day conference where Business Development Representative Rob Proracki will present a donation of a Convaid lightweight, compact folding pediatric wheelchair to a family designated by the affiliate. To advance education on Cerebral Palsy and solutions to specialized products, Convaid is hosting a series of no-fee webinars, the first which was held in September and is now available on demand by clicking here and two additional webinars later this month and in November.

Standing and Walking, to be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016; and, Use of Home Equipment, to be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016. Both webinars will start promptly at 9:30AM, presented by Convaid and R82 seating and mobility expert K. Missy Ball, MT, PT, ATP, and certified pediatric NDT. She is the former Acting Director of the Physical Therapy Department of Children's Hospital in New Orleans, where she co-directed the hospital's seating program for 10-years while also working with UCP's Seating Clinic.

The first webinar, Seating and Mobility, held last month, is available on demand. It defined Cerebral Palsy causes,  risks factors, classification and description of the different types of Cerebral Palsy while addressing specific seating and mobility issues.  It covered classifications based on type, bodily involvement and severity.  The Gross Motor Functional Classification Scale was discussed as a reference for Cerebral Palsy severity and equipment options.
