HMS to help Snyder, Texas, hospital go online with electronic health records

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthcare Management Systems, Inc.(R) (HMS) announced today that they and Cogdell Memorial Hospital are embarking upon a new partnership. Cogdell Memorial selected HMS to supply a fully integrated financial and clinical hospital information system to get the Snyder, Texas hospital closer to electronic health records (EHR) for its patients.

Cogdell Memorial had been working with a financials-only system from APS when they began a year-long search for a new solution partner that would grow with them.

"We were looking to acquire an integrated system with an EHR in order to enhance our ability to provide patient care because we know that government requirements are forthcoming, and we want to be ahead of the game," said John Everett, chief financial officer for Cogdell Memorial Hospital. "After an intensive search of several different vendors, our directors and physicians were unanimous in choosing HMS."

"HMS just seemed to be the best fit for us overall, both in personality and the specific attributes we were seeking," Everett continued. "Their commitment to customer service, patient care quality, bedside drug administration and core measures tools on an integrated system within our price range really fit the bill."

With their implementation already underway, these changes and their new HMS system are just around the corner.

"We're excited about going live on the new system," Everett concluded. "Anticipated improvements in everything from pre-registration wait times to business office billing to patient safety through greater inter-departmental communication, will work together to make our facility a better resource for the community we serve."

"HMS is pleased to have been selected by Cogdell Memorial Hospital to be their partner in bringing advanced technology to patients and clinicians in the community," said Paul Agee, executive vice president and chief financial officer for HMS. "Our integrated solution will better enable the hospital to provide quality healthcare with state of the art systems now and into the future to help them improve patient safety and move the hospital closer to EHRs."
