The funds were divided evenly between GIVE and SMGA, with Mark Burnett, executive vice president of the ClubCorp golf and country club division, presenting SMGA with the check for $34,163 on June 14 during the Fourth Annual SMGA Charity Golf Classic in Rockville, Md. A presentation to the GIVE Foundation will be made at a date to be determined.

"ClubCorp is extremely proud and honored to be able to have collected this money from our members to donate to two wonderful and incredibly important programs," said Burnett. "A great number of our members and employees served in the military so contributing to the efforts was a privilege and took on a personal meaning for many."

"The PGA of America is most appreciative of the passion and the generosity displayed by ClubCorp's members for supporting two outstanding programs that have aided in the rehabilitation of our nation's veterans," said PGA of America President Jim Remy. "It is heartwarming to see golfers everywhere recognize that they can give back to those who gave unselfishly of themselves for us."

The donations benefit military golf programs that utilize the volunteer instructional talents of PGA Professionals. The GIVE Foundation, founded in 2007 in Riverside, Iowa, is designed to train men and women veterans in the fundamentals of golf and to enhance their mental, social, physical and emotional well-being and improve their quality of life. The SMGA, founded in 2004 in Olney, Md., provides recreational therapy, through the game of golf, to combat-wounded American soldiers injured in Iraq or Afghanistan.
