MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 22 ClearWay Minnesota will return to theMinnesota State Fair with a brand new icon at the corner of Dan Patch andCooper Street -- a giant, crushed cigarette. The 20 foot tall cigarette standsin an ashtray ten feet wide and four feet tall. The cigarette was developed bylocal advertising firm Clarity Coverdale Fury and is similar to the QUITPLANbillboard that has been displayed in Forest Lake and Rochester.
The new look of the ClearWay Minnesota State Fair booth will be unveiledon the opening day of the State Fair outside the Northeast corner of the KARE11 Health Fair building, two blocks west of Snelling Avenue. Visitors can findinformation there about QUITPLAN stop-smoking services, receive a carbonmonoxide screening and free water bottle.
"We're very excited about the new look of our booth," said DavidWilloughby, ClearWay Minnesota Chief Executive Officer. "The giant crushedcigarette will be a clear message to State Fair visitors -- you can snuff outyour smoking habit through our free QUITPLAN Services. Since the launch ofQUITPLAN Services in 2001, more than 10,000 Minnesotans have used the programto successfully stop smoking."
Smoke-free laws often encourage smokers to try and quit, and the ClearWayMinnesota booth will also feature information to educate Minnesotans about theupcoming statewide smoke-free law, effective on October 1, 2007. In Minnesota, quit-smoking services are availableto any Minnesotan who wants help through QUITPLAN(R) Services(1-888-354-PLAN).
"With the smoke-free law going into effect in just over a month, manyMinnesotans may have questions about implementation and what to expect," saidWilloughby. "Our Fresh Air campaign and website provides information andresources to business owners and the general public."
