Claron has been using WIF internally since 2006 to develop algorithmic engines and applications for its partners, with the first WIF-based products shipping to end users in 2008. "With this launch, we are making our platform technology available to other companies to accelerate their development of advanced visualization solutions", said Doron Dekel, co-CEO of Claron and Architect of Withinsight. "We are very pleased by the strong positive response to WIF by the selected companies to which we presented WIF starting a year ago. Seven partner companies are currently in various stages of WIF-based solution development, and none of these development efforts has so far failed to meet high expectations. The solutions are very diverse, spanning the range from on-scanner real-time processing, through analysis visualization, to therapy guidance. The data being processed includes CT, MRI and ultrasound images. The more solutions being developed on WIF, the more robust, versatile and powerful the platform becomes".

WIF provides software components to facilitate computer vision tasks such as automating segmentation, registration and abnormality detection, and visualization tasks such as controlling multiple cross-correlated volume-rendered views of a single or multiple data volumes, clipping and colorizing spatial regions of the data, and measuring statistics. WIF is designed to accommodate a wide range of deployment and integration modes from a simple desktop program which is full WIF-based, to a complex multi-server enterprise-wide installation requiring that WIF be integrated into one or more legacy systems. WIF-based applications can be configured to start either in a standalone mode or in a "thin client" mode, providing both the ease of development offered by a single process program and the user accessibility and economy offered by thin client deployment.
