Children's Medical Center is the only hospital in North Texas, and one of only two pediatric hospitals in Texas to be ranked in all 10 specialties. Top 10 rankings were achieved in Orthopedics (3rd), Nephrology (9th), and Urology (10th). Other area rankings are:

· Cardiology and Heart – 21st
· Diabetes and Endocrinology – 15th
· Gastroenterology – 23rd
· Neonatology – 19th
· Neurology and Neurosurgery – 21st
· Pulmonology – 31st
Children's increased its ranking in six of the 10 specialties compared to the 2010-2011 listing.
"We salute Children's Medical Center in Dallas," said Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. "The goal of the Best Children's Hospitals rankings is to call attention to pediatric centers with the expertise to help the sickest kids, and Children's is one of those centers."
The new rankings recognize the top 50 children's hospitals in 10 specialties: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology. Seventy-six hospitals are ranked in at least one specialty.
