Chicago's Most Influential Women Gather Saturday, October 17 to Raise Awareness for National Breast Cancer Month

Gloria Alvarez is a two-time breast cancer survivor and has personally helped to raise thousands of dollars for breast cancer research and education.
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. The ACS is sponsoring the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk in Chicago on Sunday, October 18, 2009.
The Breast Cancer Network of Strength has been a trusted resource for 30 years and has helped thousands find the information they need to make educated decisions. This mission of the BCNOS is to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone.
The Lynn Sage Cancer Foundation supports the understanding, research and treatment of breast cancer in partnership with Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. The LSCF also sponsors the nationwide “Light the Way to Find a Cure” initiative, turning hundreds of iconic buildings pink throughout the country.
