Charity Green House Showcases Attainable Eco-friendly Features

ATLANTA, Sept. 15 Brock Built's new "Green House"demonstrates that eco-friendly living is easier than one might have thought.Surveys show that people are ready to go green, but are not sure how toinclude eco-friendly practices into their everyday lives, but Brock Built's"Green Home" can show homeowners how. The house demonstrates green featuresand practices that can easily be incorporated into the home.

The home was built green from the ground up, from its locally producedfoundation concrete to its anti-microbial and low-emissive drywall andrecycled interior trim, building wrap, exterior decking and siding, to its"cool roof" reflective shingles.

Environmentally-conscious features can be found throughout the home,including insulation that is manufactured with 85 percent recycled fibers,faucets that deliver up to 30 percent water savings and a solar water heatingsystem that allows approximately 80 percent of the hot water demands of "TheGreen Home" to be met using the energy of the sun.

Skylights deliver natural light to the home and a rain harvest and reusesystem allows for reuse of laundry and bath water for outdoor use. EnergyStar-rated entry doors, windows and air conditioner deliver proven energysavings.

The Green House is also a healthier home, with a clean air filtrationsystem and central vacuum system that removes airborne allergens. The backyardincludes a personal herb garden, mulch made from trees cut down in theclearing process and two rain gardens, which help decrease runoff.

But most importantly, the Green House is raising money for Children'sHealthcare of Atlanta. The home will be sold to the highest bidder through anonline auction that runs September 17 through October 3. The bidding willstart at $350,000 and all proceeds will benefit Children's Healthcare ofAtlanta.
