/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The University of Miami School of Business Administration today announced that it has established a Center for Health Sector Management and Policy. The center will serve as a resource to businesses and policy making bodies, conduct and disseminate leading edge research, offer consult services to the health care and business community and provide training and education for those in the health sector.

Kahn, dean of the University of Miami School of Business Administration. "This new center of excellence, the only one of its kind in the Southeastern U.S., will play a pivotal role in helping businesses, governments and organizations throughout the U.S., Latin American and the Caribbean find solutions to today's complex health care challenges."
Through the center's experts bureau, which includes faculty from the School of Business, leading authorities in health sector management and policy will be available to speak and provide expertise to local, state and national legislative bodies, government agencies, the news media, trade associations, conference planners and other organizations. The center's consult practice will help organizations in the health sector tackle complex challenges in such areas as process improvement, supply chain management, health care economics, cost-effectiveness analysis, management and leadership, physician process management, ethics and compliance, international health care policy and health care technology. The center's education and training programs will include open enrollment and customized executive education programs targeting the health sector. Among the first of these is a business certificate program for physicians, which will be delivered through a partnership with the Florida Medical Association in August 2010.

For more than 30 years, the School has delivered an Executive MBA program designed exclusively for health care professionals. In addition, the School offers a joint MD/MBA program with the University's Miller School of Medicine, offers an undergraduate major and an undergraduate minor in health sector management and policy, and provides the business component for the Doctor in Nurse Practice (DNP) program at the University's School of Nursing and Health Studies.
